This and that updates
It's hard to believe Julia turned a year old. 2005 was a bitter sweet time for us. Joy for finally getting pregnant and then devastation for losing Katelyn. We did visit Katelyn. It was unbelievably painful but we know she's no longer suffering and is in a much better place.
We decided to have small birthday party for PJ. Since we limit her exposure there won't be many people coming. Some of Julia's nurses will be there along with the Lovvorn crew and Halle Walker. We can't wait to see everyone.
Health wise PJ is having a rough time. We had her one year checkup on Tuesday. Happy to report that Julia weighs 17lbs 8oz (not a big increase from a couple of weeks ago but we just started increasing the qty of each feed) and is 27 1/2" long. There were several issues discussed at the visit. First being the diaper rash. Poor Julia has had on/off diarrhea (as well as having a bowel movement 7-8x a day) for quite a while and it's caused a sore. NP (Carey) gave us plenty of meds to help PJ until we can see a GI specialist (we were able to get an appointment next week). Next topic was the thrush. When I asked Carey about it she chuckled and said "Well...don't panic when you hear the common name because it's not a big deal." I told her to toss it out there - we've heard lots of things that sound horrible. We were fully prepared for a medical term but OH NO...she says "Black Hairy Tongue." I instantly pictured my daughter having a furry tongue. Apparently, it's a type of thrush (I think that's what she said - at that moment, all I could think about is PJ plucking hairs from her mouth) that goes away on its own. I wasn't taking any chances and requested a script. Next were the shots. As if all of this isn't miserable enough, we have a tooth coming in (we can actually feel it!). Suddenly, my happy-go-lucky, never cries daughter has turned into a very fussy baby. It's heartbreaking when we can't get her calm and comfortable.
There's not an update on the mouth feeding. Since PJ has been so uncomfortable, we give her snacks and let her control what happens.
On a more positive note, she is right on target with her coordination and other physical developments.

Carrie, Hallie had thrush this summer(though i never heard of the hairy part). That is the same time she stopped eating...What did she give you for it? we tried everything and the only thing that worked was this nasty purple stuff that turns her mouth that color for days... but it was worth it , if you want to try it i can bring it this wkend. I sure hope PJ's diaper rash gets better...Looking forward to seeing all of you this wkend.

Glad to hear an update! I meant to warn you about the shots at the 1yr appointment. And teeth, too? Poor Julia! Can't wait to see her on Saturday. :)

i forgot to mention when Hallie had thrush that they thought it MAY have been caused by the Flovent, because we may have not been wipping her tounge good enough after the puffs. Dont really know if that was the cause of Hallie's or Julia's for that matter..but i thought id throw that out there.
